Amethyst Glaze Painting with Sarah Schrift
In the spirit of amethyst and its association with peace, mental clarity, emotional balance, and sobriety, students are asked to bring a printout of imagery or to come with imagery on their phones to use as a reference for painting that evokes one or more of these themes. Sarah Schrift, MFA Columbia University, will teach students an old master painting technique of painting in greyscale (grisailles) to create clear imagery. She will then instruct students on how to glaze their greyscale paintings with a thin glaze of oil paint that contains actual pulverized amethyst. Please come dressed in clothes that you can get messy in. All art materials will be provided.
